What Is This?
This is a website made for a class project showcasing what we've learned about New Zealand cinema and the country's national identity. throughout the semester!
We chose to focus on one film each: "In My Father's Den" (2004) and "Boy" (2010). We analyzed these films, wrote an essay on them, and got paired up to make this project.
The themes these films seemed to have in common was "coming-of-age", a very popular New Zealand film genre. The other themes of these movies include sexuality, masculinity, family secrets, and reconciliation. You can see all of the themes on the "Activities" page of our website in our crossword puzzle.
